Artist's Biography
"A painting is never finished--it simply stops in interesting places." Paul Gardner
I have dabbled in watercolor since kindergarten and remember being intrigued by watching the paint drip down the paper and colors mixing as they ran. The freedom of the paint and the freshness of the colors is what fascinates me about watercolor even now. I took up watercolor painting more seriously when grandchildren entered my life and I decided to retire to have more time with them. They are always a source of inspiration.
My work has been selected for juried shows and shown in various group art shows as well as one woman shows. My watercolor cards, prints and original paintings are sold in specialty shops in Denver and Atlanta. Keep watching for new watercolor images. They will show up in various categories of the Gallery. The vibrant painting of poppies, "Poppin' Up" was shown in the Colorado Watercolor Society Fall Show.
I am a member of the Colorado Watercolor Society, Georgia Watercolor Society, Spruill Art Center and the Park Hill Art Club. I have donated artwork for non-profit benefits such as: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Reading for the Blind and Dyslexic, Children's Diabetes Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Court Appointed Special Advocates and many others.
My paintings are inspired by seven active grandchildren, weekly hiking in Colorado, love of nature, and travels throughout the United States and other countries. I love to photograph any subject with interesting shapes, shadows and colors. Or it may be a mood I'm capturing as in "Rainy Day in Georgia." I use the photos as a reference and add my own interpretation of light and color.
My aim is to capture the spirit and memory of a moment in time. A good example is my painting called "The Party's Over." The painting is not only a memory but inspires a feeling and reflection of another day. I hope my work will add some beauty to your life.
